Flat video
360° content plays as a stretched rectangle instead of a sphere.
SpatialTag
SpatialTag inspects and injects the MP4/MOV metadata that platforms need for 360°, VR180, and spatial audio.
Browser demo and CLI run locally. Your files stay on your device.
A flat MP4 looks fine in QuickTime, but immersive players need explicit metadata. Spherical tags describe projection and stereo layout; spatial audio tags describe ambisonic channel order and normalization.
360° content plays as a stretched rectangle instead of a sphere.
Player wraps frames on a sphere with correct stereo eye mapping.
Ambisonic tracks decode correctly instead of playing as flat stereo.
Full sphere. Mono or stereo (side-by-side / over-under). v1 XML or v2 atoms.
Side-by-side frame, 180° forward view. Auto crop and bounds from resolution.
First-order ambiX (ACN/SN3D). Writes the SA3D atom on compatible tracks.
Metadata lives in the moov atom, not in encoded media. SpatialTag reads
your file structure, shows existing tags, and writes spherical video
(SV3D, ST3D, v1 XML) and spatial audio (SA3D)
without re-encoding.
See ftyp, mdat, and moov layout at a glance.
Read spherical XML, ST3D / SV3D, and SA3D tags.
Export a tagged file for 360°, VR180, and/or ambisonic audio. No upload, no server.
Inspect and inject in the demo below. Best under ~2 GB.
Open demoSpatialTag CLI (spatialtag) for local and in-place inject.
Self-hosted web UI for batch tagging on your machine or server.
Docker guideTkinter app for spherical video and spatial audio when installed with the GUI extra.
GUI setup
Drop an MP4 or MOV below. Tag spherical video and spatial audio in one pass.
Best for files under ~2 GB. For multi‑gigabyte in-place inject, use the
CLI with -I.
